Do you want more abundance in your life? Of course you do!
I bet you want all the abundant blessings promised by Jesus Christ when he said:
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
– John 10:10
You want purpose, peace, and happiness.
But sometimes you find that you’re just not there. Something is off and abundance feels a million miles away.
Hey, Friend, you’re not alone!
We all get out of balance sometimes…
We live in a complex world and we are eternal beings having a human experience. Sometimes it’s messy and we get off track.
When this happens, somewhere we are out of balance with the principles that bring abundance.
I’ve found a way to get back into balance with abundance and am excited to share it with you. The simplicity of this method might surprise you. I created an Abundance Toolkit that uses this method to help you get back in balance with abundance. You can grab it for free below as my gift to you.
Keep reading here to find out what this method is and why it works.
You’ll learn:
This knowledge helps you see where you can take action to align with principles and practices that abundance is based on. You can get right side up again!
Jesus increased in…
One of my favorite scriptures from the Bible explains that even Jesus, while sojourning on this earth, kept in balance in four important ways. And since he is our best example to follow, let’s see what he did:
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favour with God and man.”
– Luke 2:52
So, Jesus increased:
That’s a great pattern for us to follow!
Getting in Balance with Principles of Abundance…
Here at this website I teach about eight Principles of Abundance. These principles align beautifully with these four areas that Jesus “increased” in, or in other words, the areas that he gained in abundance.
Check this out! The following table shows how principles of abundance coordinate with the areas Jesus increased in:
The Principles of Abundance: |
Area Jesus increased in: |
1. Develop an Intentional Mindset |
Wisdom, favour with God, favour with man |
2. Cultivate Faith in God |
Favour with God |
3. Be a Lifelong Learner |
Wisdom |
4. Do Good in the World |
Favour with God and with man |
5. Build Health & Wellness |
Stature |
6. Create |
Wisdom, favour with God, favour with man |
7. Experience Adventure & Awe |
Stature, Favour with God |
8. Prioritize Connection in Relationships |
Favour with man |
That is an exciting discovery! We can see that when we live principles of abundance we are increasing in the same areas that Jesus increased in as he grew and worked on the earth fulfilling his mission.
I believe that when we feel in a place of lack, one or more of these principles of abundance are being neglected or forgotten.
Imagine the four areas that Jesus increased in like the four legs of a chair. When one or more of the legs is broken or missing, the chair is unstable, off balance, and teeters on the edge of a fall, unable to hold the weight it was intended to.
Friend, we are like that chair.
When we aren’t living one or more of the principles of abundance we feel unstable, off balance, and vulnerable to a crash, unable to hold up to life’s challenges with strength and ease.
How to know if you’re out of balance…
Lacking abundance – or being out of balance with the Principles of Abundance – can look like any of the following:
The good news is, you can change this!
You can take action to get back in balance and start feeling better. One small step at a time.
I want to help!
This is where my method can help you!
Get back in balance by first asking a question…
When I find myself in a place of lack – unmotivated, stressed out, sad, or just out of sorts – I find
myself asking questions, and then taking action. These two things always seem to help!
I know, it seems simple, but it is a powerful formula.
When we ask questions we tap into a principle with a promise: a law that has natural consequences tied to it. In scripture, God promises us certain abundant blessings when we follow certain laws.
I call it the “if/then” principle.
If we keep certain laws, then specific outcomes can be expected. The law of gravity dictates that if we jump off a bridge we will plunge to the ground below. Principles with a promise work the same way. When we live specific principles we can expect promised blessings in conjunction with those principles.
When Jesus said,
“Ask, and it shall be given you…for every one that asketh receiveth”
~ Matthew 7:7,8
He was stating a law.
A principle with a promise!
If we ask, then we will receive an answer.
How does this work? My friend Audrey Rinlisbacher of Mission Driven Mom described it beautifully when she explained this law:
“Our brains are problem solving machines. Whatever fuel we give them they will work on it. They always want to solve a problem. When Jesus says ask and ye shall receive, he’s not giving a suggestion or a good idea, he is stating a natural law. And that natural law is: when you ask a question you get an answer. Period. Because that is how we have been created. That as we ask questions we will get answers. We are always presented in life with problems. And we always have the ability to ask ourselves questions about those problems.”
This law is also tied to the Holy Spirit which testifies of truth. When we ask questions we are using our agency to act, inviting the Spirit to then communicate with us. When we act on the communication that we receive, the Spirit then will send more inspiration.
It’s an exciting and fulfilling cycle of personal revelation that I have experienced again and again.
But not just any question.
I need to be super clear about something: not all questions are created equal!
The kind of questions we ask ourselves determine the kinds of answers we get.
As author Keith Cameron Smith said:
“Empowering questions ask what you can do, and disempowering questions ask what you can’t do.”
Keith Cameron Smith
There is a really important distinction between the kinds of questions that help us get back into balance with abundance and those that send us spiraling into negative rumination.
For example. An empowering question could be, “How can I make this better?” You are putting yourself in control and defining what you can do!
In contrast, asking yourself, “How is this ever going to change?” sends you off into a ruminating worry cycle. You are a victim of your circumstance and are powerless to affect change.
Can you relate to asking the wrong kinds of questions? It’s a vicious cycle that ends in worry, anxiety, and despair. It goes nowhere but down really fast.
Instead, asking empowering questions puts you in a position to receive truth about yourself. Then you can act and create positive change. That is powerful!
Once you’ve asked empowering questions, your answers may be the first thing you think of. They may come later in a quiet moment of reflection or you may wake up in the morning knowing the answer.
You can trust you will get an answer. It is a principle with a promise:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
~ Matthew 7:7,8
Abundance Toolkit
I noticed this pattern of success in my own life: asking empowering questions and taking action. I want to help others apply this method too. I created an Abundance Toolkit full of empowering questions and actions based on the 8 Principles of Abundance.
It’s a nine-page survival kit to help you see where you are out of balance with principles of abundance and to take action to get right side up again.
It’s the very advice I’d give if we were sitting together, face to face, heart to heart, talking things over like good friends do. It’s what I do when I need help getting back in balance with principles of abundance.
So, my Friend, if you are feeling lack in your life, whether that lack is showing up as anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, boredom, discontentment, stress, or whatever it looks like for you, take heart!
There are important empowering questions you can ask yourself to help identify where you are out of balance with the Principles of Abundance – even the very principles Jesus increased in.
There are actions you can take to get to back in balance with abundance!
The Abundant Toolkit is my gift to you when you subscribe to receive inspirational notes from me in your inbox (don’t worry! I’ll only send great stuff and never send spam!).
