Did you know that there is a treasure-trove of further testament of Jesus Christ in scripture in addition to what is found in the Old and New Testament?
God inspired prophets in other parts of the world throughout time to testify of the Savior of the World so all His children could know of his birth, his mission, his Atonement and his Resurrection. Matter of fact, the Topical Guide of standard works of scripture for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price) lists DOUBLE the amount of scripture about Jesus Christ than found in the Bible alone.
As a seeker of truth and a disciple of Christ that is EXCITING news! There are more accounts of Christ’s interactions with people and prophets throughout time and throughout the world than what is available in the testaments recorded in the Bible. There are double the testimonies and teachings of the Savior that we can read about and learn from than what can be found in the Bible alone.
They are another testament of Jesus Christ that is supported by and supports the Bible. You can read all about these additional accounts of the Savior Jesus Christ here.

Did you know that Jesus visited the people of the American Continent after his resurrection?
Many of the people living on the American continent before the birth of Jesus believed that the Savior would be born of a virgin mother and walk their ancestor’s homeland of Jerusalem, and that he would be the Savior of the World, the promised Messiah.
All throughout their history prophets testified of the coming of Jesus Christ – even 600 years before he was born on the other side of the world.
The people of ancient America waited and even faced death because of their belief in the prophecies of the coming Lord. They looked forward with hope and anticipation for his birth and his resurrection according to the prophecies, even amidst persecution for believing.
After his death and resurrection, he visited the Americas and shared his gospel with the people there that had believed in him and looked forward with faith for the signs of his birth and death. You can read about that here.
He took the children one by one and blessed them in some of the most touching verses of scripture.
Jesus Christ even told his disciples in Jerusalem about these other sheep when he said, “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine…And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” John 10:14-16
The Book of Mormon is the ancient record of the people of America that looked forward to, prophesied about, and worshipped the Lord Jesus Christ. You can read about it here and read it’s text in full here.
You can read about the prophecies in America of a coming Messiah at the following links from the Book of Mormon:

Did you know that God still talks to prophets today?
He is still guiding and inspiring His children through living prophets to warn His children of the pitfalls of living in these modern times and to bring hope and comfort? Yes, it’s true! The same organization that existed with Christ in New Testament times has been restored under His authority.
He isn’t done talking to us! God has revealed much to His children throughout time which we can read about in scripture in addition to the Bible. He is still revealing truths. His prophets are still receiving revelation that will bless and guide the children of God on the earth today. And “He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.” (Articles of Faith found in the Pearl of Great Price).
One of the most pertinent pieces of revelation in our day is The Proclamation on the Family. In 1995 when the proclamation was given, the disintegration of the family and attacks against traditional family legally and socially weren’t common like today. The confusion about gender was not prolific as it is today. The cases in court over same-sex marriage and against traditional marriage hadn’t yet begun. But God knew the chaos and contention that was just around the corner and He warned his children through prophets.
Because prophets receive modern revelation and speak the will of the Lord for his children, we can avoid confusion, contention, and deception. We can build on a solid foundation for our families with confidence about our roles as men and women, husbands and wifes, fathers and mothers.
What is the prophet telling us today? President Russell M. Nelson, the current living prophet, warned us that “In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost… If we are to have any hope of sifting through the myriad of voices and the philosophies of men that attack truth, we must learn to receive revelation.” He then taught how to receive personal revelation for our lives. You can listen or read his talk here.
You can read or listen to some of the current things prophets and apostles are telling us here as well as their affirmation and testimony that Jesus is the Christ here .

Did you know that we can be together forever with our families?
Death doesn’t have to separate us from our loved ones forever. Our family relationships are eternal! Priesthood Authority that once was on the earth with the New Testament Apostles has been restored which enables families to be together forever in the eternities.
That is such spectacular news! When my Grandmother passed away, I commented to my dad, who is of another faith, that it was so comforting to know that we will be with Grandma again someday. He paused then said to me, “In my church we don’t believe that we will be together in heaven.” I was grateful of my knowledge that I would be with my Grandmother again and for the peace and joy it gave me at her passing.
So I want to shout it from the rooftops and let you know that families can be together forever! These sacred, precious, hard-fought-for family relationships that we nurture and cherish in this life do not end at death. It is possible to continue in those relationships ever after.
You can learn more about this glorious news of eternal families here and here.

Did you know that women are revered as equal and powerful partners in the work of God?
The perspective that Mother Eve brought damnation to all of mankind isn’t in line with God’s teachings and vision of her and all women. I believe many Christian women – and women in general – carry a heavy unconscious burden of guilt as the lesser-sex because historically all through time culture fostered oppression of women. Many good people perpetuate this oppression by pointing to Eve’s partaking of the fruit in the Garden of Eden as proof that women are the cause of sin in the world and are second-class-citizens to be ruled over.
Is it possible that feelings of low self-worth stem from this misunderstanding of Eve and how God views women? I think so.
The great news it that through modern revelation and clarification, it is clear that that is NOT how God views the Fall or how he sees his daughters. Here are a few references:
“Our doctrine is clear: Women are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves them. Wives are equal to their husbands. Marriage requires a full partnership where wives and husbands work side by side to meet the needs of the family” see here.
“It was Eve who first transgressed the limits of Eden in order to initiate the conditions of mortality. Her act, whatever its nature, was formally a transgression but eternally a glorious necessity to open the doorway toward eternal life. Adam showed his wisdom by doing the same… We celebrate Eve’s act and honor her wisdom and courage in the great episode called the Fall. Some Christians condemn Eve for her act, concluding that she and her daughters are somehow flawed by it. Not the Latter-day Saints! Informed by revelation, we celebrate Eve’s act and honor her wisdom and courage in the great episode called the Fall ” See here.
Women have been liberated and restored to their proper place through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
This information is revolutionary!
With the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ, women have been freed from misguided oppression and elevated to equality and power in partnership with men. It is a dignified, glorious, and powerful role. We are intended to be equal partners, collaborating together with good men in our churches, communities, and families.
Women are to lead with their husbands in the family, each having divine primary gifts and callings: men to preside, protect, and provide and women to nurture, teach a sin-resistant generation, and defend morality and families. (See here and here for reference).
The contentious power struggle between men and women currently found in our popular culture, and maybe in our own homes and hearts, can be let go when we understand the true role of Mother Eve and our roles as women in God’s great plan.
With God there is no power struggle. He shares His power with both men and women equally. The so-called Battle of the Sexes is a distraction orchestrated by the adversary and doesn’t need to be a source of contention anymore.
Although it is true that because of human weakness and false traditions women may still experience oppression. We live in a fallen world for sure. But because of modern revelation with the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the truth of woman’s divine identity and worth has been established. As a collective and individually we no longer need to hold the weight of our former oppression.
Friend, we can let those shackles go, for truth has already set us free!
I thought of another analogy. It’s like a Christmas present I just couldn’t keep a secret! I had to tell you what was wrapped up and waiting for you. It is just too exciting! Further testament of Jesus Christ, living prophets and apostles, eternal families, and the divine role of every woman in God’s Kingdom. I had to let you know 🙂
